Terrell James, una nota artista contemporanea texana, dipinge il mondo naturale attraverso il suo unico obiettivo astratto. Il suo lavoro nasce dalla sua grande attenzione alla forma organica; il suo procedimento rispecchia la sua presenza nel paesaggio e nella natura. Sebbene interpretino piuttosto che rappresentare il paesaggio, le forme organiche delle sue opere alludono direttamente alle loro origini in piante, animali, fossili e ghiacciai. Le espressioni di James delle sue “ossessioni familiari” fluiscono automaticamente dal subconscio man mano che le sue opere si realizzano.
‘L’immaginazione è astratta da luoghi particolari od oggetti che ho visto. Sto cercando di dipingere, disegnare e scolpire l’essenza della mia esperienza, per condividerla nella pittura attraverso la luce e il colore’
La cosa più sorprendente delle opere di James, sia su tela che su carta, sono le sue esplorazioni del colore e la sua invenzione di tonalità originali per riflettere i suoi soggetti. La radiosità interiore che genera aggiungendo, togliendo e sovrapponendo i suoi pigmenti è insita in tutto ciò che crea. L’apertura immaginativa dei suoi lavori, con la stratificazione di nuove visioni su tracce di precedenti invenzioni, invita a ripetuti incontri. Vedere il suo lavoro è, di per sé, una forma di introspezione, mentre sorgono nuove associazioni mentali in questo continuo processo di interpretazione. Complessi ma armoniosi, James crea dipinti aperti che offrono allo spettatore la libertà di percepire.
